You dream that you are walking two lobsters on a bifurcated leash, like the poet Nerval, but it is amid arctic snows where pinball jockeys bring up tilt signs like midnight suns and you can’t quite remember your lines, what with the white confetti falling and the curtains about to part, and all of a sudden you can’t even juggle three balls because they’re shedding birdseed and your one arm has fallen asleep and then you see somebody who you know oughtn’t to be there because he’s dead and you wake up.
